Septic Tank Locating in Ocala, FL

Ocala Septic Pumping Pros is where Ocala owners go to request septic tank locating. Many Marion County homes were built with the tank lid a foot or more under the lawn, and after a few owners and some landscaping, nobody remembers where it is. Request service and a local septic service company will call you back to plan the search.

Locating is often done on the same visit as a pump-out, but it can be a separate charge. Say up front that the tank has not been found so the quote reflects it.

How tanks get found

Technicians usually start where the main sewer line leaves the house and follow it out with a probe rod. Some use an electronic transmitter pushed down the line through a cleanout so they can trace the signal above ground. Once the tank is found, they dig to the lid or lids.

Your old permit drawing helps a great deal. Records from before 2021 may sit with the county health department files, and newer ones with the Florida DEP. If you do not have a copy, ask either office how to request it for your address.

Clues you can gather

Look for a cleanout pipe near the foundation, a patch of grass that browns first in drought, or a low spot in the yard. On older Ocala homes the tank is often on the side of the house where the bathrooms are. Do not dig blindly near the tank; lids can be fragile, and an open tank is dangerous.

Make it a one-time search

Once the tank is found, ask for a simple sketch with measurements from fixed points like corners of the house. Keep it with your home records. Better yet, ask about risers and lids so the access point sits at ground level and nobody has to search again.
